Biography
Patemoshela Erkie is an accounting academic and practitioner with extensive experience in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, budgeting, and public-sector financial management. She currently serves as a Lecturer in Accounting at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where she teaches undergraduate modules in financial accounting and auditing. Her teaching philosophy emphasises active learning, real-world application, and student empowerment through structured guidance, constructive feedback, and inclusive engagement.
Before joining academia, Patemoshela built a strong professional foundation through progressive roles in the Namibian public sector, including Senior Accountant: Budget Control, Acting Senior Accountant: Financial Reporting, Accountant: Accounts Payable, and Taxation Officer. Her expertise spans budget preparation and monitoring, financial reporting, internal control enforcement, audit response, compliance assessment, and supervision of accounting functions. She has also prepared annual financial statements for the Office of the Auditor-General and contributed to strengthening financial systems in the Public Sector.
Patemoshela’s professional background informs her research interests, which focus on:

• Auditing practices
She is committed to producing impactful research that contributes to policy, accountability, and sustainable economic development.
Patemoshela is also deeply engaged in community development initiatives.
• She serves as a member of the Public Accountants’ and Auditors’ Board (PAAB) Education Committee, contributing to national accounting education standards, curriculum enhancement, and the professional development agenda. In addition, she supports student development and community outreach in her role as a Guardian within the NUST Accounting Society, where she contributes to mentorship, professional engagement, and student-led initiatives.
Her community engagement includes:
• Career Outreach Activities: Participating in initiatives aimed at promoting accounting careers, empowering learners, and strengthening awareness of higher-education opportunities.
• Tax Education for SMEs and Individuals: Through a personal volunteer initiative, Patemoshela provides tax literacy training and hands-on support to small businesses and individuals, focusing on VAT, ITAS navigation, and compliance requirements.
Through her academic work, professional expertise, and dedicated community service, Patemoshela Erkie continues to contribute meaningfully to accounting education, financial literacy, and socio-economic development in Namibia.
