Dr Aloovi Onesmus Aloovi, PhD

Dr Aloovi Onesmus Aloovi is a seasoned academic researcher with over 19 years of experience in education, specialising in curriculum studies and teaching professional development. Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training at the Namibia University of Science and Technology, Dr Aloovi is widely recognised as a curriculum specialist dedicated to advancing quality education and strengthening curriculum practices across Namibia.
Dr Aloovi holds a PhD, Master of Education, and Bachelor of Education Honours in Curriculum Studies from Stellenbosch University. He also earned a specialised Diploma in Secondary Education (Science) from the University of Zimbabwe and a Specialised Diploma in Education (Biology) from the University of Namibia. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to enhancing pedagogical approaches and contributing to the transformation of curriculum frameworks at national and institutional levels.
Over the course of his career, Dr Aloovi has taught a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Educational Foundations I, Introduction to Educational Research, Curriculum Studies, Educational Psychology, Research Study, and Philosophy of Education at master’s level. He has successfully supervised three master’s theses and numerous research projects for BEd Honours and Diploma students—many of which focus on curriculum-related topics. His teaching philosophy centres on student-centred instruction, critical thinking, and the integration of practical experiences into academic learning.
Dr Aloovi has published more than eight peer-reviewed journal articles and continues to contribute to scholarly discourse in curriculum development and pedagogy. Beyond teaching and research, he has taken on several key leadership and administrative roles at NUST. These include serving as Programme Coordinator for the Postgraduate Diploma in Technical and Vocational Education and Training Management (PGD-TVETM), Project Personnel for the SAS-ATVET and SSATL-ESD projects, and member of the NUST Curriculum Framework Committee.
Passionate about mentorship and community engagement, Dr Aloovi is part of a dedicated team of lecturers involved in outreach programmes aimed at supporting early-career TVET managers and strengthening leadership within TVET centres nationwide. His impactful work continues to influence policy, practice, and research in curriculum studies, contributing meaningfully to educational development in Namibia and beyond.
