Biography
Biography: Hilma Nuuyandja is a Lecturer and Section Head for Transport and Logistics Management at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). She holds a Master's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and is currently pursuing a PhD in Transport Economics at the University of Johannesburg. Her expertise spans transport economics, sustainable mobility, logistics, and integrated land–use and transport planning.
Hilma has led the development of key academic programmes at NUST and published in reputable international journals, including Sustainability, Urban Science, and the Journal of Urban Mobility. She has also completed an Erasmus+ mobility exchange at the International University of Logistics and Transport in Poland.
In 2025, she accompanied NUST students to the International Inter-University Transport Project Competition in Moscow, where their project was recognised among the best submissions and awarded Diplomas of Prize Winner. Hilma received a Letter of Appreciation for her mentorship and leadership, which highlighted her commitment to fostering project-based learning and promoting excellence in transportation education.

• Impacts of urban design, accessibility, and spatial structure on sustainability outcomes.
• Comparative and systematic assessments of urban form–mobility linkages in African urban environments.
Public Transport Systems
• Policy-oriented frameworks for improving public transport accessibility and reliability.
Logistics & Supply Chain Management
• Urban freight and last-mile delivery challenges in rapidly growing African cities.
• Sustainable logistics systems, including low-carbon distribution models.
• Transport infrastructure performance and its impact on supply chain efficiency.
• Integration of land use planning with logistics network design.
• Public transport–logistics synergies, such as shared mobility and cargo solutions.

Community Development Activities:
• Leading the Responsible Consumption Campaign in collaboration with the Transport and Procurement Society (TPS), funded by Namibia Breweries Limited. Oversaw training workshops delivered by NBL, NAMPOL and the MVA Fund to equip facilitators and coordinated the campaign’s activation during the NUST 10-Year Legacy Run to promote awareness and behavioural change on responsible alcohol consumption.
