Biography
Dr Bianca Maria van Niekerk is a Senior Lecturer and Master of Marketing Programme Coordinator in the Department of Marketing, Logistics and Sport Management at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). She holds a PhD in Marketing Management from the University of Johannesburg and has more than a decade of academic and professional experience in higher education, research, programme leadership, curriculum development, and stakeholder engagement.
Her teaching and research expertise span consumer behaviour, customer experience, retailing, store atmospherics, strategic marketing, digital and AI marketing, and market intelligence. Dr van Niekerk's research is particularly focused on understanding how retail and service environments influence consumer decision-making, value perceptions, emotions, trust, and behavioural intentions within emerging and developing market contexts.
As an active researcher and postgraduate supervisor, she has supervised numerous postgraduate degree candidates across diverse fields, including marketing, tourism, financial services, and digital transformation. Her scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed journal publications, textbook contributions, conference presentations, and academic reviewing activities. Dr van Niekerk's current research agenda incorporates systems thinking, systematic and integrative literature review methodologies, multidisciplinary research, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to address complex challenges in marketing, business management, and economic development.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr van Niekerk actively contributes to institutional governance, postgraduate education, curriculum quality assurance, community engagement, and academic collaboration initiatives. She is committed to developing future business leaders, advancing impactful research, and strengthening the connection between academia, industry, and society.
