Programme Aims/Purpose
The Master of Hospitality and Tourism Innovation Management is a coursework and research‐based postgraduate programme designed to enable students to critically examine the characteristics and frameworks of the tourism and hospitality business and evaluate the scope for innovation management within them. Students will be able to apply concepts, theories, and methods of management required to effectively analyse and craft tourism and hospitality management strategies that can give an organisation a competitive advantage in the highly competitive tourism industry. The Master of Hospitality and Tourism Innovation Management programme will therefore, equip students with innovative techniques and strategic thinking in tourism and hospitality, eTourism and digital marketing, tourism policy, planning, and development among other areas. Additionally, this programme will further, equip students with advanced knowledge required to conduct applied research and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
Furthermore, the programme seeks to improve Namibian tourism’ competitiveness locally, regionally, and internationally by providing advanced academic and research competencies that will enable graduates to contribute to the national development goals as outlined in the NDP5, Harambee Prosperity Plan, Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Master of Hospitality and Tourism Innovation Management programme will be of strategic importance in the socio‐economic development of Namibia and will give a new dimension to the improvement of tourism policy formulation, planning, development, and marketing.
