Biography
Salmie Sakarias is a dedicated Lecturer in Business and Entrepreneurship, where she teaches undergraduate courses in both disciplines. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, she serves as a research supervisor, guiding students through impactful projects that address real-world challenges in entrepreneurship and business. Her research work centres on sustainable entrepreneurship and digital transformation, with a strong emphasis on how these areas can foster inclusive economic development and resilience in emerging markets. Salmie’s scholarly contributions explore topics such as youth entrepreneurship, innovation strategies, technology adoption in emerging economies, and entrepreneurial education. She has published articles, newspaper articles and presented at international conferences, sharing insights on sustainability and digitalisation in entrepreneurship and beyond.
Beyond academia, Salmie is deeply engaged with the community. She teaches practical entrepreneurship skills through various community initiatives. Her outreach initiatives include organising workshops on sustainable business practices, advocating for women and youth entrepreneurship, and collaborating with local business incubators to strengthen Namibia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through these efforts, she aims to empower young entrepreneurs and small businesses with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in a competitive global market. In addition to her academic and community roles, Salmie brings extensive experience in administration and consultancy. She has provided strategic guidance to businesses and organisations, helping them innovate and grow. Furthermore, she is an accomplished course developer, having designed online courses and study guides. These contributions reflect her commitment to advancing entrepreneurial education and supporting the growth of Namibia’s knowledge economy.
